Explore Otaru & Yoichi

Visit the beautiful seaside city of Otaru, known for glasswork, great seafood, desserts and distilleries. 

In the morning, head into Yoichi Distillary, where the world-famous Nikka Whiskey is produced.  

Continue on for a tour of Otaru city for some relaxing time spent along the canal and historic Sakaimachi street area and a delicious seafood lunch.

Finally, take the ropeway up Tengu Mountain to see the panoramic views of Otaru Port and Ishikari Bay.

In this whirlwind day-tour you will firstly head into Yoichi Distillery, where the famous Nikka Whiskey is produced. You can understand a little about the founder Masataka Taketsuru’s Scottish inspiration and dream, and then try a sample for yourself (soft-drinks are provided for non-alcohol drinkers and those under 20 years old).

After this, we’ll then drive to Otaru city for some time to explore the canal area and Sakaimachi shopping street – famous for glassworks, music boxes, and great desserts! Followed by a fantastic seafood lunch full of local fish and produce.

Finally, we’ll take the ropeway up Tengu Mountain, enjoying the panoramic views of Otaru Port and Ishikari Bay. Tengu Mountain also boasts stunning nature, a squirrel park, bobsleigh and fabulous cafe, if you want a short break at the top.
