This is a whirlwind 2-day tour to enjoy the very best of Tokachi’s local area – including local food and desserts. Activities like the winter festival at Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan and local famous tourist spot Kofuku Station are also included!
And of course, the highlight of this 2-day tour is definitely the Jewelry Ice, a natural phenomenon occuring every winter at the mouth of the Tokachi River on the Otsu coast. Here the ice has been swept by waves and smoothed out like a pebble. It shines like jewelry under the sunlight and these ice clusters have now become one of the famous photo spots in winter Hokkaido.

Tokachi area is one of our favourite places in all seasons, and this winter we plan on making the most of the amazing food, desserts and activities on offer. Local activities like the winter festival at Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan and local famous tourist spot Kofuku Station are included in this whirlwind 2-day adventure!
Of course, the highlight of our travels is our adventure to find the Jewelry Ice, a natural phenomenon occurs every winter and makes for the most picture-perfect memories. At the mouth of the Tokachi River on the Otsu coast, the ice has been swept by waves and smoothed out like a pebble. On the first day, we will travel within Obihiro City,going to have a delicious pork rice bowl for lunch (Don’t worry, if you can’t eat pork, there is also another choice)
After having lunch, we’ll go to the local famous tourist spot Kofuku Station where there is an old train station and the name means blessed – why not bring some happiness from here for your life and this trip!
At the end of the day and also the highlight of this tour, is the Jewelry Ice. Let’s walk on the beach and enjoy the sunset together with the Jewelry Ice!

On the second day, first we are going to the factory of one of the most popular Japanese cake and sweet makers, Ryugetsu. There is café and shop selling local food and desserts for you to try, and we can also have a look of the creation process to get behind the scenes.
And then we will go to the Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan, which is a famous winter festival in Hokkaido. There are a lot of ice buildings in the Kotan, such as ice bar, ice concert hall, and ice chapel. Though it sounds crazy, the most famous attraction there is the Ice Hot Spring on the frozen lake!
Before finishing our tour, we will head to Shimizu to have a local lunch. After all, our 2-day tour will come to an end at 17:30 after arriving Sapporo.
