Explore Lake Shikotsu, Toya & Mount Usu

Enjoy exploring two of Hokkaido’s most beautiful lakeside spots, Shikotsu and Toya, in this fun and interactive one day tour. Stunning in every season, we love these beautiful places and their connection with nature. Have a fantastic local lunch, take a ropeway ride up Mount Usu, an active volcano near Toya that overlooks both the lake and the ocean, and finally enjoy ice cream and local produce in the most beautiful setting. Small groups and real guides make this a perfect relaxing day where you can choose any season to enjoy the area. 

Start the day with a stop at Lake Shikotsu, one of Hokkaido’s famous clearwater lakes. Depending on the season, the changing views are beautiful but ever-changing. If you get the sun shining just right, the lake looks almost transparent. 

Next we’ll drive to Mount Usu and Showa Mountain, these active volcanos which stand over the region, and are surrounded by a mini-village of local crafts and stores. Take the ropeway to the top of Mount Usu, and enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Toya and Mount Showa, before enjoying the short walk up to the ocean and crater views on the other side.

We’ll then stop locally for some lunch to refuel us for the rest of the day. We can cater for any dietary requests, so just let us know when you book. 

Finally, we’ll head to the beautiful Lake Hill Farm and Stunning Silo View Spot and take in one final breathtaking gaze of the views of Lake Toya. Lake Hill Farm is famous for it’s delicious ice cream, and they have a small cafe if you want to add coffee and cakes into the afternoon. This ice cream is some of the best we’ve ever tasted!
